Georgia
The beautiful country of Georgia has some great freeriding to offer the intrepid snowboarder looking to go somewhere different to the norm and Gudauri has some of the best off-piste in the country. The mountains are big! 5000m peaks and have incredible views. The food and drink is also fantastic and costs very little compared to western European countries. The people are friendly and the culture is very different from this side of Europe.
The last three years trips were a huge success with incredible conditions and some amazing first descents.
On a weeks course we start with a warm up day including resort orientation and an equipment check. We also make sure everyone can use a transceiver properly. Day 2 we try to do some easy to access off piste, Khada valley is the usual go to on this day, 1300m of vert! Day 3 we go for a big hike to the Monastery. It’s a long split/snowshoe which takes us up 700m to meet the monk and then we ride down. Day 4 is usually Kobi pro which again is an easy entry with just a walk along a road at the bottom to get us back to the lift. Day 5 we try to go off the Kobi ridge which includes a hike in of about 1 hour. This descent is also very long and reaches the same road as Kobi pro. Day 6 is either Millioni valley if there is enough snow or the slightly easier option of Bidarra ridge with a small skin back to resort. Obviously everything is dictated by the weather but this is a normal week in Gudauri.
The accommodation we use is very comfortable indeed. It’s modern, clean and has spectacular views of the valley. Breakfast is included and is a buffet style, it is extensive and is enjoyed by everyone that stays in the hotel. Evenings we can either eat at the hotel or go to one of the local restaurants. Dinner is not included in the price.
Our trip includes transfers, accommodation (shared room), breakfast, lift passes and guiding/coaching. 7 nights, 6 days riding £1650
